My short review of the M-Audio Oxygen 49 midi controller (3rd gen) can be found here:
I really like this controller, because it makes my music – editing in Reason a lot more easy, since I don’t have to operate all the controls with my mouse, and I can stay behind the keys.
Summing up:
Pro:
– Small enough to store
– Big enough to fit 49 keys
– Enough controllers to conveniently edit Propellerhead Reason instruments
– Nicely priced.
Con:
– Keys have a little bit of plastic feal.
– Issue while connecting for the first time (see solution below)
MIDI PROBLEM:
While trying to connect the M-Audio49 to Reason, I got the error:
“MIDI PROBLEM:
The midi port may be in use by another application”
So how did I fix that?
I had to dig into the Windows registry.
So no warranties here, make a backup from the registry if you’re not comfortable.
To edit the registry, Hold the Windows Key and press R (run)
Type ‘Regedit’ and click ‘OK’.
Making the backup can be done by clickin ‘File \ Export’ and save the file somwhere.
Now find
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControleSet001\Control\Class\
Find the key {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Here we have to add a missing key, so right click in the left part.
Select ‘New \ Multi string value’
Give it the name ‘UpperFilters’
Double click this filter and add the value data:
ksthunk
Click ‘OK’.
Close the registry editor.
restart you’re PC.
Start Reason or some other program.
